How to save energy and to cut costs this winter!
The Energy Saving Trust is an independent organisation – working to address the climate emergency. Here are 5 Tips they recommend for how to save energy and to cut costs this winter:
1 Turn your thermostat down
Easy first step. For each degree you cut the thermostat, your bills are cut by around 4%, or on average for a typical home, about £100 a year.
2 Find those draughts
Removing window and door draughts can save on average for a typical home, also about £100 a year.
3 Use 'eco' mode on appliances
Appliances using 'eco' mode usually use less speed and heat. This means less energy used, which is less money paid on your energy bills
4 Turn off your devices, don’t leave them on standby
Reported by The Energy Saving Trust, you can save on average approximately £28 per year by switching devices off standby. In some cases you can save up to £77 a year!
5 Insulate your home better
Heating and cooling can contribute to over half of a household’s energy bills. Improving insulation in the floors, ceilings, walls and roof allows you to better control your home’s temperature, saving you many pounds!
